Herbegrafenis / Reburial (W. Roets) - Passendale - 09/07/2013
South Africa has buried tree war heroes who in WW I were involved in an Allied offensive on 20/21 Sep 1917. The interment of the mortal remains of these soldiers took place at Tyne Cot Cemetery near Zonnebeke/Ieper on 09 July 2013 at 10.00 am. The remains of South African World War I soldiers were found at a brickworks near Zonnebeke at the end of 2011. Indications are that these soldiers went missing in action as casualties of mortar/artillery fire and were never formally buried.
South African forces were part of the 9th Scottish Division of the Allied Forces at the time of these soldiers' demise.
